In-person training is the origin of the Academy and remains its centre. Classes have been held since 2003 in Germany and in other countries and regions worldwide. About 1,500 international students and professionals have taken part in more than 85 Academy classes.
Seminars are held on the premises of the institute or at universities. Seminars attached to a conference take place at the conference venue. Workshops are held, where this is possible and reasonable, at a site that has a relevance to the topic covered, so that a plant visit can be part of the class. Otherwise they take place on the premises of the institute.
Every participant receives a printed handout in full colour, so that annotations can be made directly in the lectured content while the class runs. All handouts are published under an ISBN and are available through any book shop.
What distinguishes the room is the mixture in it. Lecturers come from universities and research on one side and from operating industry on the other. Participants come from plant operators, suppliers, engineering companies, authorities and universities, in one documented class from 11 nations at the same time. The discussion between these groups is a deliberate part of the format, not a by-product.
Classes are held in English. As an exception they can also be offered in other languages; the introductory seminar runs regularly in German as well. Every class is evaluated by its participants on content, lecturers and organisation.
Fees and booking
The participation fee depends on format and duration and is stated in the flyer for the respective event. Registrations received by the deadline given in the flyer qualify for an early booking rate. Students receive a reduced rate; please attach proof of enrolment to your registration. A limited number of student places is available for each event.
The fee covers the course documents and the catering during the breaks stated in the flyer. Travel and accommodation are not included; hotel recommendations are listed in the flyer.
You can register in two ways: with the form in the flyer, followed by an invoice and bank transfer quoting the course number, or directly on the campus, where access is granted as soon as payment is received.
If you cancel by the deadline stated in the flyer, 50 percent of the fee is refunded. After that deadline no refund is possible. Recording or passing on course content requires our written consent.
Academic recognition
Credit points are available on request and by arrangement. Please state your university and the intended course when you enquire.
